"In the center of the pin is the MTM, Jr Memorial Foundation logo with the Claddagh Ring (which is part of the logo) surrounding it. The Foundation gives scholarships to students from SHP and Rutgers Dental School, as well as donations to WO PAL - including a new electronic scoreboard at the PAL baseball field. The Seton Hall Pirate logo representing 3 generations of McCormicks having gone there and of course The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh where my father was a long-time member and I am currently an active member and former Chairman of the Annual Dinner Dance and former E-Board Member. The Rutgers Dental school is included as recipients from MTMJR Foundation because our daughter, Meaghan, graduated from there in 2020."
My pin was designed with three of my passions in mind: Green - the official color of my home town of West Orange
Street Signs - to reflect my role and commitment to downtown West Orange and the Celtic font and Ireland's flag colors - in honor of my Irish heritage
I wanted to incorporate important events and life experiences into my pin. The Banner, American and Irish flags in the pin represents the 40 years that I have proudly carried them at the annual morning Mass and Parade for the Irish American Society of the Oranges. The football field background represents the lifelong friendships that I have made through the sport that first attracted me to athletics and coaching.
My pin is in honor of my Dad, Spanky McCue. The Maltese cross represents his career as an East Orange firefighter and the Shamrock not only represents our Irish heritage but also our deep Catholic faith and each petal represents the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. My father proudly served as a Deputy Grand Marshal of this Parade in 1994 and I am honored to follow in his footsteps.
